"The Battle of Fort Myers" by Rodney E. Dillon, Jr.

 Recent arrivals to Lee County may be unaware that the southernmost battle of the Civil War took place here in Fort Myers on February 20, 1865.  Rodney Dillon's "The Battle of Fort Myers" is a good account of the battle. More concise overviews were published in the Fort Myers News-Press several times. All these articles may be accessed online at the links below.
